My Top 6 Holistic Gift Ideas

A few weeks ago I was asked to participate in a Holistic Gift Guide with a few other ladies on Instagram! At the end we are giving away $100 Amazon Gift Card (see my stories from today on how to be eligible! I jumped at the chance because one of my favorite things along this journey is sharing my favorite things! I think it can be so hard for people to know where to start or what items to try!

For my contribution I've got an assortment of things! Some ideas to create a custom curated gift set of some of my favorite things that I've found over the years! A few of my other ideas are things that I don't have yet, but would love to get as a gift. I think that's one of the fun things about giving and receiving gifts, to give/get things that you wouldn't necessarily buy for yourself!

1. Custom Gift Set

First up is some of my favorite recommendations for safer items to create a custom gift set! You can pick and choose some items depending on your budget!

  1. Zum Clean Laundry Detergent Sample Pack ($2 each)
  2. Mabrook and Co. Dry Shampoo ($26 for full size, $14 for travel size)
  3. Innersense Holiday Travel Gift Set ($22)
  4. Native Deodorant ($12)
  5. Branch Basics ($5-$69)
  6. Beautycounter Holiday Sets ($34-$95)
  7. Yeti 14 oz Mug ($24.99)
  8. Côte Nail Polish ($18+)
  9. Lodge Cast Iron (prices vary) And, the key to using these is how you care for them! I've written a whole blog post on what we do! http://tkwellnessandbeauty.com/my-cast-iron-tips/
  10. Stainless Steel Cast Iron Scrubber ($8.49-$19.99)
  11. Primally Pure Spa Kit ($52)

2. Mighty Nest Subscription

Once again I have heard many times that people just don't know what items to switch to safer, there are so many out there and how do they pick the best one(s). I love the concept of the Mighty Nest subscription box. Each month you receive a box with various wellness/cleaner living items that allows you to try different things. It's the gift that keeps giving!

You have 3 options for gifting, 3 months ($33), 6 months ($66), 12 months ($114).

3. Guppy Friend Washing Bag

I recently read an article about how our yoga pants and all clothes made from synthetic fibers leach microplastics into our water systems. I've chatted many times about how phthalates and other plastics raise quite the trouble with our health and most specifically our endocrine (hormone) systems. I'm someone who is extremely picky on my workout wear and while there are better options not made with these synthetic fibers I'm not ready to make that switch quite yet from my beloved Lululemon. So, in the true fashion of progress not perfection I purchased this GuppyFriend Washing Bag that is designed to reduce the amount of microplastic pollution by reducing the shedding of these clothes by filtering them. It's not a perfect solution as then you still need to dispose of what comes off the clothes, but it does reduce it from our water systems.

4. Skin Research Institute Salon Dry Pro - Red Light Therapy Professional Salon Ceramic Ionic Volumizing Anti-Frizz Hair Blow Dryer

I recently read an article about how our blow dryers produce quite a bit of EMF exposure. If you aren't familiar with what this is it is electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) that are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation, that are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting. Now, in the age of cellular telephones, wireless routers, and the Internet of things, all of which use EMF, concerns persist about possible connections between EMF and adverse health effects. (source) If we are trying to reduce as much EMF exposure as possible the blow dryer is a great swap especially if you are using it daily. I don't personally have this one, but it's on my list!

5. Wake- Up Light, LBell Alarm Clock 8 Colored Sunrise Simulation & Sleep Aid Feature

Staying on the low EMF topic a recommendation to reduce EMF exposure is to not sleep with your phone near your bed. Or at the very least turn your phone on airplane mode at night. For those of you that need an alarm clock I'm sharing a recent find of mine that not only helps you keep your phone away from you, but also helps with good sleep hygiene and gentle waking in the morning. I'm getting one of these for Elijah for Christmas, he's going to be so excited! haha!

6. Real Plans Subscription

Here's a bonus idea! A couple of years ago I purchased a Real Plans subscription to help us out on the meal planning and grocery shopping front and it was game changing! It cut down on all the time I'd spend scouring websites and cookbooks planning the meal for the week and then creating a list to go shopping. This website/app does it all for you! I love how you can enter dietary preferences as well and some of my favorite food bloggers are on there! It is also now integrated with Instacart so if you have that capability you won't even have to leave your house! I'm all about the time saving these days!

You get a 14 day free trial before being charged and prices range from $30/month, $49/quarter, to $99/year with price reductions for subsequent months/quarters/years.
