Seasonal Allergy Relief

It’s that time of year again for many! Allergy season! ⁣

While most of us love the melting snow and things beginning to bloom, for those with seasonal allergies this time of year can be a blessing and a curse. Here are a few more natural things that work for us for symptom management in place of traditional antihistamines and allergy eye drops and nasal sprays!⁣

First, gut health is of utmost importance! Also, make sure you are getting adequate Vitamin D (be sure to check lab values). Then comes environmental control (dust, vacuum, air filters), avoidance if possible. Last, is supplements. ⁣There are many out there, but I am going to keep it simple with a few that have worked well for us! I will link to Amazon, but I recommend making sure you are buying reputable supplements.

  1. Saline rinses are extremely helpful at rinsing away pollen in the nasal passages. ⁣You can also try saline eye eye wash if you've been outside.

  2. D-Hist - contains quercetin that stabilizes mast cells, preventing release of histamine. Also contains Nettle Leaf that blocks the body’s ability to produce histamine. ⁣

  3. Local raw honey - (in those over 12 months) contains both beneficial bacteria and trace amounts of pollen picked up by the bees from local plants. Consuming raw honey produced in your area can help to “educate” your immune system to tolerate these local pollens.⁣

  4. Allergena - homeopathic remedy that offers allergy relief that is tailored to meet the needs of individuals with allergies in each of the nine geographic zones in the United States. ⁣

  5. Xlear Nasal Spray - xylitol nasal spray that helps cleanse and moisturize the nasal passages.

As always please check with your medical provider before starting any supplements. ⁣
